About Us
Rokn Yugen Soul is a unique name for sure, but trust us, there is reason behind that name and each word is both a reflection of me as well as the personality of our organic bamboo socks. Remember, we make socks for the everyman…with style, so it was important that our name reflect the personality of our brand.
Rokn: The name really started with my dad, a professional guitarist and musician. He taught guitar for over 40 years and toured with several well known groups! So, yeah, he was a rocker! One of his favorite expressions was, “Keep Rock’en!” So, of course “Rock’en” had to play a role.
Yugen: In addition to playing the cool-guy motiff of a true rocker, there is a soft side to our men and our socks, and I’m not just talking the cushion of bamboo. In Japanese, Yugen, represents a profound awareness of the beauty of the universe and in Chinese philosophical text the word refers to the deep or mysterious. The personality reflects a person who is spiritual, calm and embraces the world around him.
Soul: Lastly, soul is the tranquil mindset of our designs. Each pair of our organic bamboo socks is designed to reflect the wearers personality, both inside and out. From the bold and charismatic Harlequin Soul to the calming romantic nature of the Rokn Buddha we want our wearers to not only put on a pair of comfortable bamboo socks, but also to feel their soul at their feet.
It’s not just about bamboo socks, it’s also about keeping our world clean, safe, and sustainable.
You may have guessed that bamboo plays more for Rokn Yugen Soul than just a material. Bamboo has been a fascination for me, and it stems from being a somewhat cautious single mother of two beautiful sons. I think every parent goes through this phase of concern about pesticides, germs, and dangers attacking our ecosystem. After all, it is our children who inherit what we leave behind.
It was during this time that I discovered bamboo and the extraordinary benefits the plant provides to people and nature. It was the bamboo fabric that caught my attention more than anything. Among other things, it is eco-friendly, hypoallergenic, antibacterial. Talk about a mother’s best friend! Bamboo is also softer than cotton and has moisture wicking abilities that make our organic bamboo socks so popular with our outdoorsmen.
The love I found for bamboo is really what started Rokn Yugen Soul. I wanted to provide a sock that was complementary to the wearer as well as the environment. This is why we have decided to work together with and sponsor Sustainable Harvest International. We want to be more than just a high-end men’s sock brand. We want to help the world understand the sustainability and environmental benefits that bamboo provides and the importance of protecting this amazing natural resource.
Rokn Yugen Soul has a vested interest in improving our planet by providing bamboo a sustainable future, and that is why we donate part of the proceeds of every pair of organic bamboo socks we sell to help Sustainable Harvest International.
